About the Battery Modelling Engineer Role

Job Description For Laterals:

  • Strong working knowledge of Matlab.

  • Familiarity with applicable test equipment, test procedures, international standards and certified agency requirements applicable to rechargeable lithium battery products.

  • Experience applying mathematical, data analysis tools and their application to the development and characterization of lithium batteries, including statistical analysis of performance results, process capabilities, and design of experiments.

  • Strong aptitude in mathematical modelling of linear and nonlinear dynamical systems and distributed parameter systems

  • Ability to motivate and work independently with minimal mentorship required.

  • Ability to interact effectively with other engineers and teams.

  • Strong process-oriented and data-driven work culture.

  • Self-starter with excellent time management skills and entrepreneurial spirit

  • Ability to clearly understand and explain technical issues

  • Ability to clearly support and justify technical decisions based on data and results

Job Description For Interns:

  • Mathematical modelling of the electrochemical behaviour of Li-ion cells 

  • Analyze experimental and simulation results to understand the impact of cell materials on cell performance 

  • Prepare reports, present and share results with team members 

  • Work closely with the battery development and test team members

  • Currently pursuing a B.S., M.S. or PhD degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, Applied Physics, Chemistry, or related area 

  • Fundamental knowledge of Li-ion cell electrochemistry and mechanisms

  • Experience with Python and/or MATLAB
